India-An ugly lady with make up???

The results of General Elections 2009 are out and the aam aadmi seems to have spoken up.The Congress lead UPA alliance has won by a thumping majority of 322 seats while the congress tally itself has risen to 206 from 145 . But something else that has also risen is the number of women candidates in the lower house of Parliament to 59 from a previous number of 49, and to top it off Mrs Meira Kumar who was inducted into the union cabinet has given up the post to become the speaker of the 15Th Lok Sabha. Now does this really mean that the status of women has risen considerably??

Yes no one can debate the fact that the status of women has risen from what it was 50 years ago.We find that more and more women seem to be taking the top positions in society, but the question remains -Will women overthrow men as being the dominant among the sexes?? In my opinion frankly... NO not in the near future.. Unless the fairer sex comes up with some kind of method to enhance themselves to physically stronger than men i don't think they can ever over throw men.Even though feminists would strongly oppose my sentiments i really must say " That's the way things have been made by the almighty".
However i am in no way debating the wonderful role played by women in society. It reminds me of an idea that came up a few years ago describing Ms Sonia Gandhi as Mother of India.Well even though Ms Gandhi might be against to seeing herself in such light , i am sure that in every woman there lies the desire to be a mother and to be the mother of a whole country.. ah that's an entirely new level. OK enough with whether women are really good or whether they are really really good. Why is the government or rather the UPA lead alliance going ahead with its moves to show the empowerment of women. Well since its a common notion nowadays that women are better than men in many avenues no one would think twice as to whether it is a gimmick to show the performance of the government even before it has completed a month of its term.A kind of show similar to the BJP lead NDA's India Shining campaign. The fact remains that in villages women are still quite oppressed by their male counter parts and villages are the heart of India with with under 20% of the population in Urban areas.
Maybe there is something into what The head of Opposition Mr LK Advani said.. " the Congress should read the mandate correctly and should provide responsible governance". Well according to the BJP who claims that the congress victory was mainly because of the opposition to the Third Front and not because of its good governance the mandate was luck in favour of the congress. However they need to question themselves as well. Our constitution speaks of secularism- which basically means acceptance of all religions.Since the BJP is a party with nonsecular interests it remains to see what their reforms would be if at all they came to power with more than 2/3rd s the majority in both houses of parliament. And under schedule 9 of the constitution they would be able to change the meaning of the word ' secular ',without the opposition of the Judiciary. So why support them at all? Why would people even vote for them and other nonsecular parties that stick with them? Well people are misinformed or rather certain elements in society restrict the people from being informed educated. This is similar to the Laloo type politics wherein he hates the word '" DEVELOPMENT" , however since rascals like him are out of the picture my faith in the average Indian is still very strong.
Why should nonsecular parties be even allowed to form? Who formed the rules for the election commission..?? It seems that our fore fathers have made so many mistakes , or are they meant to be mistakes which would require a major majority for change ?? Have they been made in such a way for any particular purpose?? Why is it that only some are able to make use of the faultily framed constitution??
All said and done its time for us to raise our voice, take the initiative and do something about this massive outrage and in the process not lose sight of our goal.My faith in the India still remains high after Laloo has been kicked in the butt!! <>

Warm UP!!!!

Listening to classical music in a comfortable chair and in an air conditioned room writing this post, many ideas cross my mind.

Why is it that even after 61 years of independence our country still finds the classes still very alive in society.. even though not legally evident, culturally and socially they are quite evident.

Like The Mahatma once said " education empowered me to fight for my nation". Why was it that this great person had the desire that every human being or rather every Indian should have equal right to liberty just as anyone in else in the world? We should think about this very seriously.Even in those days people were very selfish and cruel and probably very dogmatic, but they had a very credible excuse in their favour--- They were uneducated.
Examining the character of Akbar reminds us that it is not exactly Education that is required to reform people to become practical, broad minded and kind but it is good will that needs to be inculcated in youngsters.

That in itself is no easy job.. for one the environment that teenagers grow up in is highly hostile and unless they put on a inhumane or rather less than humane face they would be treated like outcasts.
A long list of social taboos play their parts in driving young adults to build up their mental frame work to be narrow minded. Why is it that parents hesitate to talk to their children about sex , sexual acts and why do people make masturbation a taboo... Scientific research says masturbation is good for health. What logic do people associate with all these taboos??

Lets talk about human origins. We still don't know how it began.Whether we came from another planet or whether indeed we did evolve from apes or whether it something totally different. It will always remain a mystery to us. However let us take the theory that we came from the monkeys.. now for the monkeys there is no right and wrong.. they do what they feel like and do so because of hormones.. Now what is the probability that monkeys born to the same mother will not mate. I know for certain that it most definitely is not zero, and hence it brings us to a important point that we all originated from incest.. monkey incest to be slightly more decent. This brings us to the truth that these taboos were set long before by the society because it had its scientific reasons to back it up.Mating with other offspring in the family is known to cause severe genetic disorders in children. This is the precise reason why people should marry outside their community.
Certain taboos were imposed by religious institutions and they instilled fear among the people for what?? -- to have the one thing that every man craves for POWER.POWER over what one does , over what one thinks , over what one is allowed to think and the most dreadful-POWER OVER ANOTHER HUMAN BEING.Many issues need to be addressed and the reason why people hesitate in spite of knowing that it is time for them to act is because it would involve a total make over of ideas, concepts and lessons they have learnt or even clearing their head and starting afresh.....

I leave u to quiz yourself on what fronts there needs to be a change in modern day society.. And as for me this was just a warm up for me to write about different topics i think about.. that's why its called a blog ain't it? :)
